Terms of Service

⚠️ Not a medical device. AAC Made Easy is a communication tool, not a medical product. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition. Always discuss communication needs and assistive-technology choices with a qualified speech-language pathologist, occupational therapist, paediatrician, or other appropriate professional before relying on this or any other AAC software for clinical purposes.
1. Acceptance
By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using AAC Made Easy ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. Who can use it
Account owners must be adults (18+). The Service is intended for use by adults on behalf of children or others who use augmentative and alternative communication. End users (children, the people whose boards are being built) interact only with paired-device kiosk mode and never create their own accounts.
3. Your responsibilities
- Keep your password safe. If you forget it, the password-reset link sent to your email is the only way back in — we cannot recover accounts where the email address itself is lost.
- Don't share your credentials. Use the co-owner feature to add other adults to your group.
- Share only what you need. The only information we require to operate your account is your email address and a chosen password. Names, photos, voice recordings, places, and other personal details are optional and only useful inside your own group's boards. If you don't want to include them, don't. The Service still works with emojis and generic labels. Less personal data uploaded = less personal data that anything (a breach, a lost device, a legal request) can ever touch.
- Only upload content you have the right to upload (photos, audio recordings, names).
- When publishing boards to the public library, you grant other families a non-exclusive licence to copy and adapt those boards for their own private use. Custom photos and recordings are not shared during public-library copies — only labels, emojis, colours, and say-as text.
- Don't use the Service to harass, impersonate, or harm anyone, or to host illegal content.
4. Subscriptions, fees, and refunds
The Service offers a free trial, a monthly subscription, and (where enabled) a one-off lifetime option. Pricing is shown in the app before you pay.
- Monthly subscriptions can be cancelled any time from your device's subscription manager (Apple Subscriptions / Google Play). The joining fee is non-refundable.
- The lifetime option is a one-time payment in exchange for ongoing access for as long as the Service is operated. If you cancel and later wish to use the Service again, a new payment is required.
- Payments are processed by Apple, Google, or our other payment partners under their own terms. We don't store your payment details.
- Lifetime access is for the operational lifetime of the Service. We don't guarantee that the Service will be operated indefinitely (see "Service availability" below).
5. Vouchers and gifts
We may issue voucher codes that grant free time, extra seats, or fee waivers. Codes are single-use and have no cash value. We may withdraw or invalidate codes that have been obtained or used in breach of these Terms.
6. Content moderation
We screen public-library content with an automated filter that blocks obvious profanity and impersonation. We don't pre-screen private boards (those stay inside your group). We reserve the right to remove published content that we judge to be inappropriate for a children-focused communication library, and to revoke publishing privileges from accounts that repeatedly post such content.
7. Service availability — no warranty
We provide the Service "as is" and "as available". We commit to applying the highest reasonable security and operational standards we can — encrypted backups, signed media URLs, mandatory MFA for admins, retention sweeps, scheduled diagnostics, audit logs. But we do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, free of vulnerabilities, or suitable for any particular purpose. Outages, bugs, feature changes, and security incidents happen even in well-engineered systems. We'll do our best to communicate about them but we don't guarantee any specific uptime, response time, or feature continuity.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for any communication breakdown, missed appointment, distress, data loss, security incident, or other harm resulting from use of, reliance on, or inability to use the Service — including but not limited to outages, bugs, account compromise, and incidents involving third-party providers (Apple, Google, our hosting provider, our payment processors).
- We are not liable for clinical decisions made based on the Service. Discuss AAC and assistive-technology choices with qualified professionals.
- We are not responsible for content YOU choose to upload — including photos, audio recordings, names, and any other personal data. You decide what goes into your boards; you accept the consequences of including it. (See section 3: share only what you need.)
- We are not responsible for content you choose to publish to the public library. Other families copy public boards at their own risk.
- Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim. For free-tier users, that limit is zero.
- None of this limits any rights you have under consumer-protection law that cannot be excluded by contract.
9. Privacy and data
How we handle data is described in detail on the Privacy Policy. Headlines:
- We do not sell or share your data with third-party advertisers, brokers, or analytics providers.
- End users' names and photos are visible only to your group and to devices you have paired.
- You can export everything we hold about your group at any time (Settings → Download my data).
- Deleting your account deletes everything associated with you and (if you're the sole owner) your whole group.
10. Account termination
You can delete your account from Settings at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts for breaches of these Terms, abuse, fraud, or to comply with the law. We aim to give notice except where doing so would put others at risk.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be highlighted in the app and on this page. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [your-jurisdiction]. Disputes will be resolved by the courts of [your-jurisdiction], unless local law gives you the right to bring a dispute somewhere else.
13. Contact
For terms-related queries, contact [email protected] (replace with your real support email).
